Objective of Mission Shakti Scooter Scheme

Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana aims to provide interest free loan of up to Rs 1 lakh to Mission Shakti Federation leaders and community support workers for purchase of scooters. The program will provide necessary mobility assistance to SHG members. Nowadays, almost every village in Odisha has several self-help groups. This initiative will enhance the capacity of Mission Shakti Federation leaders and community support staff to effectively carry out their responsibilities, drive efficiency and increase their outreach in the community.

The new program not only facilitates individual mobility of women but also recognizes the vital role played by Federation leaders and community support workers in promoting social change and development for women’s empowerment across the state.

Features of Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana are as follows:

• The Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana is a new initiative that will cost Rs 528 crore over the next five years.
• The new program will directly support around 75,000 community support workers and around 1,25,000 federation leaders at panchayat, block and district levels.
• This initiative will enhance the capacity of Mission Shakti Federation leaders and community support staff to effectively carry out their responsibilities, drive efficiency and increase their outreach in the community.
• The new program not only facilitates individual mobility of women but also recognizes the vital role played by Federation leaders and community support workers in promoting social change and development for women’s empowerment across the state.

GP/Ward Level Federation, Block Level Federation (BLF), City Level Federation and District Level Federation (DLF) executive members and office bearers total 1,25,00 federation leaders will get benefits under this programme. Mission Shakti is expected to increase the accessibility of the program and increase the number of community support workers and EC members across the state with a specific financial allocation of Rs 528.55 crore for the next five years.
